TL;DR. At the 500-keyword mark, MobileAction’s Basic tier is $69/month (8 apps, 10 tracked competitors per app, 6-month history); Appfigures’ matching tier, Optimize, is $149.99/month (5 apps then $1.99 each, only 1 premium competitor). MobileAction is more than double the keyword-per-dollar value here, but Appfigures bundles download, revenue, subscription, and ad-spend analytics into every tier starting at $9.99/month — MobileAction’s ASO Intelligence pricing page doesn’t mention any of that; it’s a keyword-and-ranking product, with Apple Ads campaign management sold as a separate product (CMP) if you need it.
MobileAction and Appfigures both show up on indie developer shortlists, but they’re not really built around the same job. MobileAction’s ASO Intelligence is a keyword-research-and-rank-tracking product with tiers that scale keyword and competitor volume. Appfigures started as a download-and-revenue analytics dashboard and has kept that as its core, with keyword tracking layered on as one module among several.
Neither vendor makes Marteso, so there’s no reason to shade this comparison. We checked mobileaction.co/pricing and appfigures.com/pricing directly on 5 September 2026; both publish self-serve pricing in USD, so the numbers below aren’t currency-converted.
Which one is cheaper for the same keyword count?
MobileAction, clearly, once you look past the entry price. Its cheapest tier undercuts Appfigures’ on sticker price, and at the 500-keyword mark — the closest apples-to-apples comparison between the two — MobileAction Basic is less than half of Appfigures Optimize.
| MobileAction (ASO Intelligence) | Appfigures | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry tier | Lite — $15/month ($12.50/mo billed annually) | Connect — $9.99/month ($7.99/mo billed annually) |
| Entry tier limits | 100 keywords, 5 apps, 3 competitors/app (15 total), 3-month history, 1 seat | 25 keywords, 5 apps (then $1.99/app), 0 premium competitors, daily rank updates |
| Mid tier | Basic — $69/month ($59/mo billed annually) [most popular] | Monitor — $44.99/month ($35.99/mo billed annually) |
| Mid tier limits | 500 keywords, 8 apps, 10 competitors/app (80 total), 6-month history, 1 seat | 100 keywords, 5 apps (then $1.99/app), 0 premium competitors, daily rank updates |
| Closest 500-keyword match | Basic — $69/month | Optimize — $149.99/month ($119.99/mo billed annually) |
| That tier’s limits | 8 apps, 10 competitors/app, 6-month history, 1 seat | 500 keywords, 5 apps (then $1.99/app), 1 premium competitor, hourly rank updates |
| Top self-serve tier | Pro — $239/month ($199/mo billed annually) | Boost — $599.99/month, Amplify — $1,399.99/month |
| Top tier limits | 1,500 keywords, 10 apps, 15 competitors/app, 12-month history, 3 seats | Boost: 1,000 keywords, 2 premium competitors. Amplify: 2,500 keywords, unlimited premium competitors |
| Enterprise | Custom (20 apps, unlimited competitors/history/seats) | — (Amplify is the highest published tier) |
| Platforms | App Store + Google Play, per MobileAction’s own FAQ | App Store + Google Play |
Appfigures’ entry tier, Connect, is nominally cheaper than MobileAction’s Lite ($9.99 vs $15), but it caps you at 25 keywords with zero premium competitor tracking — tight even for a single small app. MobileAction’s Lite gives you 4x the keywords for $5 more.
What does each tool actually do?
MobileAction (ASO Intelligence), per its pricing page: Lite covers basic keyword research and rank tracking. Basic adds advanced keyword grouping and competitor insights. Pro adds organic download attribution and brand-vs-generic analysis. Enterprise adds custom product page data and creative insights. Outside ASO Intelligence, MobileAction separately sells CMP (Apple Ads campaign management, free up to $10,000/month ad spend) and Ad Intelligence (competitor ad-creative data) as standalone products.
Appfigures, per its pricing page: every tier — including the $9.99/month Connect plan — includes download and revenue tracking, subscription analytics, ad performance monitoring, review management, and store performance tracking. What scales with the tier is keyword volume (25 → 2,500), premium competitor slots (0 → unlimited), and rank-update frequency (daily on Connect/Monitor, hourly from Optimize up).
The practical difference: if you want revenue and download numbers alongside keyword data, Appfigures gives you that from its cheapest tier. MobileAction’s ASO Intelligence pricing page doesn’t list download or revenue analytics among any tier’s features — if you want that plus MobileAction’s ASO data, you’re looking at a second, separately-quoted MobileAction product, not an ASO Intelligence upgrade.
Do both cover Android as well as iOS?
Yes. MobileAction’s own FAQ states ASO Intelligence “supports ASO workflows across both app stores,” and Appfigures lists App Store and Google Play coverage on its pricing page. Platform coverage isn’t a deciding factor here — the choice comes down to what else you need alongside keyword tracking.
Which one publishes more about what you’re actually buying?
MobileAction, on two fronts Appfigures leaves blank. MobileAction’s pricing page states an explicit history-retention window per tier — 3 months on Lite, 6 on Basic, 12 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise. Appfigures’ pricing page doesn’t mention historical data retention at any tier. MobileAction also publishes seat counts (1 seat on Lite/Basic, 3 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise); Appfigures’ pricing page doesn’t mention team members or seats at all, at any tier — the same gap we found comparing AppTweak and MobileAction, where AppTweak similarly caps every self-serve tier at a single seat without saying so upfront.
If you need to know how far back your rank history goes, or whether a teammate can log in without sharing a password, MobileAction’s pricing page answers both questions before you sign up. Appfigures’ doesn’t — you’d need to ask support or find out after subscribing.
Which one should a solo developer pick?
If keyword tracking is your only need, MobileAction Lite ($15/month, 100 keywords) beats Appfigures Connect ($9.99/month, 25 keywords) on volume for a small premium. If you also want to see downloads, revenue, and subscription numbers in the same dashboard — useful the moment you have any paying users — Appfigures’ bundling means you’re not paying for a second tool to get that view.
At the 500-keyword mark most solo developers actually need, MobileAction Basic ($69/month) is less than half of Appfigures Optimize ($149.99/month) for a comparable keyword count, though Optimize adds the revenue/download analytics MobileAction doesn’t include at any ASO Intelligence tier.
Which one should a growing studio pick?
If you’re adding a second person to the account, MobileAction is the only one of the two that publishes a path to it on a self-serve tier — Pro, $239/month, 3 seats. Appfigures’ pricing page doesn’t mention multi-seat access anywhere, so you’d need to confirm with their support whether higher tiers include team access before assuming it’s there.
If Apple Ads spend is part of your acquisition mix, MobileAction’s CMP product (free up to $10,000/month ad spend) lets you manage campaigns without adding to your ASO Intelligence bill. Appfigures has no comparable paid-ads management product in its own pricing.
If unified download, revenue, and subscription reporting across a growing app portfolio is the actual requirement, that’s Appfigures’ original product and still its core strength — MobileAction’s ASO Intelligence tiers don’t offer an equivalent.
What’s missing from both?
Direct App Store Connect write-back. Both tools tell you what’s ranking and what your competitors are doing; neither pushes a metadata change — title, subtitle, or keyword field — live. That’s the same scope gap we found comparing AppTweak and MobileAction and AppFollow and Appfigures: research and monitoring, not implementation.
The short version
- Cheapest way to track 500 keywords: MobileAction Basic, $69/month, vs Appfigures Optimize at $149.99/month for the same keyword count
- Only one that bundles revenue/download analytics from its cheapest tier: Appfigures, from $9.99/month
- Only one that publishes history retention by tier: MobileAction — 3/6/12 months, unlimited on Enterprise
- Only one that publishes seat counts: MobileAction — 1/1/3 across Lite/Basic/Pro; Appfigures’ pricing page doesn’t mention seats at all
- Apple Ads campaign management as a separate free-up-to-$10K product: MobileAction only, via CMP
Where Marteso fits, and where it doesn’t
Full disclosure: Marteso is our product, so weigh this like any vendor’s self-description. Marteso connects to App Store Connect, tracks keywords, and generates AI-assisted suggestions for title, subtitle, keywords, and description that you review and apply yourself — it doesn’t push metadata changes live automatically, verified against marteso.com and marteso.com/docs on 5 September 2026. Pricing is transparent on the site: a free Starter tier (1 app, 50 keywords, 3 competitor apps, daily rank updates) and Pro at €18 per app/month (unlimited apps, 500 keywords, unlimited competitor apps, AI metadata optimizer). It’s iOS-only, with no documented Google Play support, and it doesn’t offer Appfigures’ download/revenue analytics bundle or MobileAction’s Apple Ads campaign management. If either of those is your actual bottleneck, today’s two tools are built for that job; if the job is tracking your own iOS rankings and drafting the next metadata change, Marteso is.
